Emergency Pipework and Sink Reinstall in a Food Warehouse
New copper supplies and waste pipework fitted after a burst pipe nearly flooded the premises
The Brief
A food manufacturing warehouse in Essex had a pipe burst that came close to flooding the premises. With the sink station out of service, the site couldn't run to normal food-hygiene standards, so the client needed the pipework replaced, tested and the sinks re-fitted as quickly as possible without cutting any corners on quality.
What We Did
Our work included:
- Isolated the water supply and made the area safe: Stopped the flooding risk and cleared the run so we could work cleanly against the wall.
- Fitted new copper hot and cold supplies: Ran fresh copper along the wall with braided flex tails ready to serve each of the sink positions.
- Installed new PVC waste pipework: Neat 40mm and 50mm waste run with a proper trap and central connection point for the twin-basin station.
- Pressure-tested and flushed the system: Verified all joints held under pressure before the sinks went back in, so no chance of a repeat leak.
- Reinstalled the twin-basin sink station: Refitted the stainless-steel commercial sinks, connected supplies and waste, and checked flow and drainage on both basins.
- Cleared and handed the site back: Left the area clean and ready for the food operation to go straight back into service.
The Result
The site was back running to its normal food-hygiene routine the same day the work finished. The client has a cleaner installation than the one that failed, and the pressure-testing gives them (and us) confidence that the run won't cause a repeat call-out.
